Where's the Snow?

Greetings to mountain sports enthusiasts!

Many are curious about where the snow is?

Here are a few possible answers: Levi, Kuutseka, Munaka.

It's been over two months since we joyfully announced that in the Vimka friendship center in Levi, one could already hit the snow.

Last week brought good news from the local mountains: Kuutseka and Munaka both opened on November 29 and remain open despite the warm spell that hit Otepää: Fri 14-20, Sat 11-19, Sun 11-18.

At Munaka, the Café slope is open, featuring a five-obstacle jib line and the first jump of the season. At Kuutseka, the learning slope and the Kuutse (chairlift) slope are operational. Low-season prices apply to mountain tickets, and surprisingly, they have significantly decreased this season.

As for Vimka, unfortunately, no great luck (read: sub-zero temperatures) is in sight. We remain optimistic and hope that this year, the Viimsi glacier will also see skis and boards turning white.

Remember, this is nothing out of the ordinary. In Vimka's short history, the opening has been postponed to January several times. Last season, we opened only on January 9.

However, if the cold arrives, the staff is ready. Vimka has invested in an artificial snow system - the same new generation cannons that enabled Otepää's early opening will be used here as well. But indeed, we cannot defy the laws of nature. It's clearly remembered from physics class that water begins to freeze at sub-zero temperatures, and snow won't come from any snow cannon, no matter how innovative, when the temperature is above zero.

Fingers crossed that the weather forecast finally turns blue!

PS The photo in the post is from Munaka on 29.11.25. As of today, the fields and meadows in Otepää are green again.
